The Turrialba volcano is located in the Central Mountain Range of Costa Rica. The volcano reaches an altitude 10,955 feet. It is one of the most unique active volcanoes in Costa Rica, in that trekkers are able to hike down inside the main crater and explore and observe the life and views from inside.
We will drive from Turrialba up north to the small town of La Central, where we have access to the volcano trail. The scenic drive up to the base of the volcano takes around an hour. As we ascend up the volcano, a knowledgeable guide of this area will point out the different climates, forests, flora and fauna that we are passing. After we reach the top of the mountain, we will be rewarded with views of the surrounding area and a one of a kind hike into the main crater. The guide will provide snacks for everyone at the top of the volcano. The round trip hike takes approximately 5 hours with moderate intensity. After the intense yet fulfilling volcano hike, we will stop at a restaurant on the return ride home to enjoy a delicious lunch.
